Opposite the library is the Brothel or the Love House. Husbands used to tell their wives that they want to go the library, and then they turn there. It was official, and only a marble stone shows the direction to there. This might have been the very first Graphical User Interface!!!
Like the "Latrine" this is just another part of Ephesus, and really doesn't need a separate entry on Trip Advisor. It's interesting historically since it's near the main entry of the harbor and advertises to visitors where they can find the "houses of pleasure".
It is a tour stop to show the sign and to tell the story this points to a brothel. That is about it. It could be mythology, but the subject is appealing for tourists. You can see the foot carved into the stone beside some carving of a woman wearing jewelry. The guide explained this was the ancient brothel but I couldn't say I seen how this was advertising for that. Part of the tour of Ancient Ephesus. It's along the street as you walk through the city.
There are many important stops close to each other and there are lots of places to read plaques placed along the way. Please be aware at the end they have shops with vendors selling fake stuff. It's OK to buy a trinket to remember the trip but the gemstones are fakes and so are the spices etc. Buyer beware. As well they will ask if you want to stop and look at rugs or leather goods. The driver is getting a kick from any sales and you're best to walk around town back in Kusadasi yourself to get better prices.
There are rugs in town as well. Beware you don't get cotton for silk as I couldn't tell the difference the cotton was so nice and soft.
