Like the look of Los Cerros but it looks a bit overrated. Any comments on this or recommendations on special other places? One budget option is Altas Cumbres, although its strictly a no-frills place.
They all look good. Has anyone stayed at El Pilar? I spent four days in El Chalten in November I actually don't like the newer hotels there, they spoil the small village atmosphere.
We stayed in a lovely, well furnished, new, very clean little cabin, owned by a local couple. They built the cabin in front of their house, and it was just a perfect accomodation. It's called "Cabanas La Loma" and you can find their contact details on www.
We did a tour to the Glaciar Grande with Fitzroy Expeditions, and really liked it, our guide, Fernando, was very good and professional. Another day we did a hike starting from the Hosteria del Pilar, which looked very pretty, but it's a little far out. El Chalten is just an unforgettable place, I hope you'll like it. Los Nires was nice and clean but in no way spectacular. It's got the cutest little puppy living outside and is right opposite the old chocolate place that does wicked hot chocolate.
